BEP Blog – Issue 14

Posted on

Good Morning All,

Following on from my ‘postcard’ a couple of weeks ago, just to let you know we have submitted a bid to the Strategic School Improvement Fund to cover the costs of reviews and support for 20 schools.

It was written as a partnership between the Birmingham Teaching Schools (ACTS) and BEP. It was one of those typical bids where you only have so many characters (including spaces) to write what they want to read! We gave it our best shot, however we won’t know if we have been successful until early September.

The bid is called ‘Birmingham Leadership Challenge Partnership’ and is planned to work in the following way. It will start with an individual external 1 day review for each school during September and October (unless you have had an Ofsted within the last few weeks when this will form the basis on the action plan). This will then be followed by an action plan and 10 days of fully costed support to meet your needs. At the end of the 10 days a mid-point review will take place and then a further 10 days of support will take place followed by a final review. There will also be joint practice days for staff working on similar issues in different schools as well as a best practice event.

If you have submitted an ‘expression of interest’ we will be contacting you shortly to let you know the next steps and if you have made the final 20!

P.S. If we aren’t successful we will try again when the next bidding round opens in September.
