Schools Identified as Causing Concern

When is a school eligible for intervention?

We work with the local authority and regional schools commissioner (RSC) when they exercise their powers of intervention in maintained schools and academies.

If your school/academy has been identified as a School Causing Concern, you can seek support and guidance from our qualified team of experts.

Our support packages for Schools Causing Concern:

  • Warning notices/Coasting Letters one day support in the completion of detailed action planning which is compliant with the DfE, guidance with liaison with the RSC/DfE regarding the process and reporting to governors.

  • Requires Improvement an intensive support and challenge package. All schools are ultimately responsible for their own performance and must develop their own capacity for improvement. However, BEP, working on behalf of Birmingham City Council, is statutorily required to provide challenge and support to schools in line with their current progress and circumstances. Details of our work with RI schools can be found here and in our School Improvement Framework document.

  • Special Measures Schools support for governors through the Special Measures process up until the point of academisation.
